Blue Devil P.R.I.D.E. Philosophy
Competition can serve as a powerful method in revealing the moral-fiber of any student-athlete. All members of the South Athletic Program will share the fundamental belief that success is not only represented by wins and losses, but rather in the understanding and/or application of The Five Principles of P.R.I.D.E. Education:
PERSEVERANCE — RESPECT— INTEGRITY— DISCIPLINE — EXCELLENCE.
These five character traits are the personal qualities we value as the fundamental building blocks in developing well-rounded student-athletes.
PERSEVERANCE: a steady persistence in a course of action with a purpose, in spite of difficulties, obstacles, or discouragement.
RESPECT: esteem for one’s own self-worth manifesting outward effecting people in the most positive way.
INTEGRITY: inner, moral, ethical principles that make up the individual’s character.
DISCIPLINE: strong solid behavior, maintained in accordance with civil rules of conduct.
EXCELLENCE: the apparitional state of being and achieving your best.
The Blue Devil PRIDE character traits foster individual growth, academic achievement, builds character, and the overall social advancement of each student-athlete at Grosse Pointe South High School.
